ED arrest former congress minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu in Food and Civil Supplies transport tender scam

Jalandhar: Enforcement Directorate (ED) Jalandhar has arrested the former Congress minister in Food and Civil Supplies transport tender scam after the hours grilling.  ED has again tightened its grip on former Punjab minister and senior Congress leader Bharat Bhushan Ashu. Today, former minister Ashu had been summoned to the Jalandhar ED office. ED officials questioned.

Jalandhar: Enforcement Directorate (ED) Jalandhar has arrested the former Congress minister in Food and Civil Supplies transport tender scam after the hours grilling.  ED has again tightened its grip on former Punjab minister and senior Congress leader Bharat Bhushan Ashu. Today, former minister Ashu had been summoned to the Jalandhar ED office.
ED officials questioned former minister Ashu throughout the day in Jalandhar office and asked about the cash and documents recovered from his house. When ED officials felt that Ashu was not answering their questions properly and they were dissatisfied with the former minister’s answers, they arrested him in the evening.
After arresting Ashu, ED officials will now get his medical done in Civil Hospital Jalandhar and will try to get his remand by presenting him in the court on Friday.

It is noteworthy that last year During the search, ED got information about five properties worth about Rs 1.5 crore. The investigating agency saw the possibility that these properties were bought using the scam money. The investigating agency also seized about Rs 30 lakh cash found during the search and started further investigation.

Action is being taken against Ashu under the Money Laundering Act. When former minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu was the minister of Food and Civil Supplies Department. He was accused of a tender scam worth about two thousand crore rupees.

There was a large-scale irregularity in the tenders for labour and transportation in the markets of Punjab. During the investigation in this case, it has also come to light that many fake vehicles and their names were misused in the name of transportation and supply.
