This morning, two drug smugglers were coming towards Barnala in a black vehicle on the Barnala-Mansa road. When the police signaled them to stop on Barnala Road, they opened fire on the police party.
In the retaliatory action, one drug smuggler was injured and was admitted to the Civil Hospital, Barnala for treatment, while the other drug smuggler was arrested by the police.
Both the drug smugglers were identified as Kewal Singh and Virbhadra alias Kalu, who were residents of Barnala. Cases have already been registered against Kalu under NDPS.
Let us tell you that the drug smugglers’ vehicle had a bag full of drug capsules and other drugs. The police are investigating this entire matter.
