An encounter took place between Jalandhar Rural Police and gangster Dilpreet Baba’s henchmen in Jalandhar this morning. This encounter took place near Kalra Mod village of Adampur. During the encounter, gangster Paramjit Singh Pamma, who is a resident of the Binjo area of Hoshiarpur, was injured.
About 19 criminal cases are already registered against the accused in Punjab and Haryana. The accused has been admitted to Civil Hospital Jalandhar for treatment. Soon he will be produced in the court and taken on remand and questioned as to why the said accused had come to this area.
SSP Harvinder Singh Virk of Jalandhar Rural Police said that a team of the Crime Branch was formed under the supervision of DSP Detective Indrajit Singh. Sub-Inspector Amandeep Verma and other employees were included in the team. Teams were working on the said gangster for a long time. Late on Monday night, the police party received a tip-off that the movement of Paramjit Singh Pamma, resident of village Binjo (Hoshiarpur), was seen near Adampur in Jalandhar.
SSP Virk said that after that, based on the tip-off, the police immediately laid a trap near Adampur. The police had put up barricades near Kalra turn in Adampur. The gangster saw the police party from a distance. When the police signaled him to stop, he tried to run over the police with his car, and on seeing the police, the accused started firing from the front. The police warned the accused and asked him to surrender. But instead of surrendering, he started firing. The police party somehow saved themselves by retreating and then retaliatory firing was started.
SSP Harvinder Singh Virk said that when the police retaliated, gangster Paramjit Singh Pamma tried to run away from there. The police chased him and shot him in his leg, due to which he was seriously injured on the spot.
The police immediately detained the accused there and sent him to the Civil Hospital Jalandhar for treatment. The police also seized two illegal weapons and 15 grams of heroin, and a Bolero camper vehicle from the spot. The recovered camper vehicle was stolen by the accused from near Ambala.
19 cases against gangster Pamma
SSP Virk further said that an investigation is currently on to find out what the accused was doing in this area. Soon after the accused is discharged from the hospital, he will be taken on remand. Initial investigation has revealed that 19 cases are already registered against him, which include cases of drug smuggling, weapon smuggling, vehicle theft, and robbery.
