Encounter in Amritsar: 3 associate of Happy Passia gang arrested, AK-47 rifle seized

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar also reached the spot at the time of the incident.

An encounter took place between the police and miscreants at 11 pm in Amritsar. These were the same who had carried out a blast at the Fatehgarh Churian Road police post on the Amritsar bypass a few days ago. The encounter took place at Bal-Sachander village on Amritsar-Airport Road.

Actually, the police had brought the accused here for recovery after arresting them. During this, one of them took out a police pistol and opened fire. Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar also reached the spot at the time of the incident.

The arrested accused have been identified as Lovedeep and Karandeep, residents of Jagdev Kalan, and Buta Singh, resident of village Muqaam Ajnala. The police have recovered an AK-47 and a Glock pistol from the accused. The said arms are brought from Pakistan with the help of a drone.

Police Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said that when the Amritsar Police were bringing the three accused for recovery after arresting them, the accused made an excuse of being unwell on the way. During this, one of them snatched the pistol of ASI Gurjeet Singh of Sadar and fired a shot. The police immediately swung into action and overpowered these terrorists.

In retaliation, the terrorists were injured by police bullets. They have been admitted to a hospital in Amritsar.
