Haryana: In the era of digital advancements, e-cigrattes is now to be in the trend, especially among the youths. Cities like Gurugram, faridabad, Chandigarh and NCR area is under this trap.
Punjab and Haryana High Court PIL filed regarding the increasing trend of e-cigarettes and smoking among teenagers in Haryana, Punjab and Chandigarh, the High Court has directed the Centre, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Swiggy, BlinkIt, Facebook and a notice has been issued. A order has been given to file the reply to the court.
A teenager who is just 15-year old Tejaswin Raj, while filing the PIL through advocate Himanshu Raj, said that due to the advertisements of cigarettes and e-cigarettes on the social media, the trend of smoking is increasing among teenagers as a sign of standard. Cigarettes are being supplied to teenagers on e-commerce websites (with formality) without considering the age of the customer.
The petitioner himself ordered a packet of cigarettes from BlinkIt, which was made available by the delivery boy near the Government School in Sector 10. The petitioner said that teenagers can usually be seen smoking cigarettes and e-cigarettes.
Without entering age in the groceries App account, anyone can order anything. Although it is should be made illegal, government should made mandatory to the delivery app without considering the age of children not to accept order of intoxication products.
