Fake call center busted by Mohali Police, 37 accused arrested

Out of the 59 mobile phones seized, 23 phones were used for call center work while 36 mobile phones belong to the arrested people.

Punjab’s Mohali Police has busted a fake call center. Police has arrested a total of 37 people including 25 men and 12 women who cheated foreign nationals. In this operation, Police also seized 45 laptops, 45 headphones, 59 mobile handsets, and a Mercedes car from this call center.

Out of the 59 mobile phones seized, 23 phones were used for call center work while 36 mobile phones belong to the arrested people.

Divulging details, Mohali SP Dr. Sandeep Garg said that these people used to send fake emails to people abroad through this call center and talked about transferring money to their account through the PayPal app.

He further added that for this, they used to advise people to buy a gift card. When the victim used to buy the gift card sent by them, then these people used to cheat them.

In this, the police have named Gujarat residents Kevin Patel and Partik Dudhat as the main accused. The police have registered a case against all of them under sections 406, 420 and 120 B of the IPC.
