Farmer shot dead over land dispute in Kapurthala

As per the son of the deceased farmer, there is a dispute of 25 acres of land because of which his father was shot dead. 

Kapurthala: A farmer was shot dead in Kapurthala’s Jhall Thikriwal village late in the evening. According to the information received, the murder was done over a land dispute. The body of the deceased has been sent to Kapurthala’s Civil Hospital for post-mortem. As per the son of the deceased farmer, there is a dispute of 25 acres of land because of which his father was shot dead.

In this case, Kapurthala police has registered a case against Ratan Singh son of Atma Singh, resident of village Baltoha, Tarsem Singh son of Binder of Moga, Bagga Singh and his brother son Nahar Singh resident of village Jhal Thikriwal under various sections including murder, Arms Act.

This case has been confirmed by DSP Sub-Division Deepkaran Singh. He said that today a panel of doctors will conduct the post-mortem of the deceased’s body.

Investigation officer of police station Kotwali Sub Inspector Balveer Kumar said that Late on Tuesday evening, there was a fight between the two parties in village Jhall Thikriwal over the ongoing land dispute. The matter escalated so much that one party started firing bullets at the other. In this firing, 60-year-old farmer Jaspal Singh was shot. Jaspal was taken to the hospital for treatment, where doctors declared him dead.
