Jalandhar– The recent update from the railways until May 16 brings no significant relief to passengers, with approximately two dozen trains bound for major stations like New Delhi, Kolkata, Haridwar, and Katra via Jalandhar Cantt and City Station being cancelled. This forces passengers to seek alternative routes to their destinations.
Additionally, due to ongoing farmer protests at Shambhu station, trains bound for Punjab are being diverted to alternate routes. Consequently, Superfast trains like the Shatabdi are consistently experiencing delays at Jalandhar station.
On Sunday, several important trains faced delays
14631 Dehradun-Amritsar Express by 3 hours, the 12317 Akal Takht Express by 4 hours, the 12029 Swaran Shatabdi Express by about 5 and a half hours, and the 12925 Jammu-Paschim Express by 3 and a half hours. These delays resulted in passengers having to endure prolonged waits at the station, causing distress.
A passenger expressed disappointment, stating that while travelers on the Shatabdi usually expect the train to arrive on time, it was delayed by 5 and a half hours on that particular day.
