Farmers’ protest continues for second day against price hike at Ladowal Toll Plaza

It is reported that the toll plaza suffered huge loss of nearly Rs 1 crore.

Ludhiana: Ladowal toll Plaza, built in Phillaur between Jalandhar and Ludhiana on Jammu-Delhi National Highway, is free for the second consecutive day as well. Farmers have stopped collection of toll from yesterday (16 June) against the increase in toll rates. Farmers are sitting on the toll lanes as a sign of protest.

On the first day of the protest, about 40 thousand vehicles passed through for free. It is reported that the toll plaza suffered huge loss of nearly Rs 1 crore.

The Most expensive toll plaza: Ladowal Toll

Let us tell you that Ladowal toll is the most expensive toll plaza in Punjab. Here, only 220 rupees are charged for one side of the car. Not only this, if a vehicle does not have a fast tag, then it has to pay a tax of 430 rupees for just one round. In the last one year, the rates of this toll have been increased 3 times. Farmers are angry about this.

On the other hand, in view of the protest of the farmers, police force has been deployed here. However, there has been no jam at the toll during this time. Traffic is going unhindered.
