Khanna: Farmer organizations today held a big demonstration in support of the 49-day long fast unto death of farmer leader Jagjit Singh Dallewal at Khanauri border of Punjab. Under the banner of Sanyukta Kisan Morcha, farmers took out a tractor march in Khanna and protested by burning copies of agricultural laws outside the SDM office.
Leaders of various farmers’ organizations including Rajewal and Lakhowal group joined this protest. Amrit Singh Benipal, District Vice President of Bharatiya Kisan Union Lakhowal, alleged that the central government is discriminating against farmers and Punjabis. He said that the government is trying to re-implement the previously repealed agricultural laws in some form or the other, which the farmers will never accept.
Tractor march will be taken out on a large scale on 26 January – Pragat Singh Kot
Bhartiya Kisan Union Rajewal leader Pragat Singh Kot Panech announced that a large-scale tractor march will be taken out on January 26. He said that all the farmer organizations have united in support of Dallewal and the decisions of the United Kisan Morcha will be followed. The farmers demand that the central government fulfill their demands.
