Punjab: Gangrape accuse injured in police custody

Kapurthala: A few days ago in Kapurthala City Police Station, an accused in a gangrape case of a minor girl was injured in suspicious circumstances in the police station itself due to police remand. However, the police took the accused back after getting him treated at the Civil Hospital.

The family members have accused the police that their son is in shock due to a false case being registered against him. At the same time, the mother of the accused also protested by lying down in front of the police vehicle that came to the Civil Hospital for treatment. On the other hand, police officials have said that the accused youth was injured due to slipping in the bathroom.

A week ago, the mother of a 16-year-old girl had told in a complaint given to the police that her minor daughter was gangraped by 8-10 youths. An obscene video of her was also made in the bathroom of a private school in the city. Acting on the complaint of the minor girl’s mother, the police had registered a case against the accused under various sections and started investigation. The police had also taken 3 accused youths into custody in this case.

Protesting against this action of the police, the family members of the accused also protested the police station against the highhandedness of the police. At the same time, the 3 youths arrested in this case were presented in the court. From where one minor accused was sent to the children’s home and the other two are in police remand.

When he was being taken back after treatment, his family protested saying that their son has been falsely implicated. Due to this, his mother lay down in front of the private vehicle of the police and started protesting. In this case, the family alleges that the youth is in shock due to a false case being registered against him. Due to this shock, he tried to cut his arm. While the youth also told the media that he injured himself in the incident.

According to SMO Dr. Sandeep Dhawan, the youth has been treated by the duty doctor and now his condition is fine.
