Ludhiana:

Just 10 days after leaving Aam Aadmi Party and joining Congress, an FIR has been registered against the councilor from ward 12 of Mullanpur Dakha Amandeep Singh.

Amandeep has been booked under charges of fraud for allegedly duping a village Phullanwal resident of Rs 14 lakh on pretext of securing a Canadian VISA for his son.

The FIR has been registered following a complaint lodged by complainant Naurang Singh of Phullanwal and notably the complaint was lodged on January 30, a day after Amandeep joined Congress.

As per the complainant, Amandeep took Rs 14 lakh from him and promised to secure a Visa for his youngest son Gurpreet Singh. He alleged that Amandeep neither arranged the Visa nor returned the money.

Meanwhile, DSP- Dakha Varinder Singh Khosa said that Amandeep had been called in for questioning three days ago during which he claimed innocence. However, an FIR has been registered following preliminary investigation.

However, now after the FIR registered against Amandeep, the Congress leaders are claiming it to be a politically motivated move.

Senior Congress leader Captain Sandeep Sandhu, who made Amandeep join Congress in presence of Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee chief Amarinder Singh Raja Warring on January 29, stated that it is politically motivated step and added that they will approach the High Court regarding the same.

He said that a similar complaint was lodged against Singh in 2013, but it was investigated twice and dismissed on both occasions.
