Jalandhar: In Jalandhar, the police of Thana Sadar have registered a case against the new Sarpanch for burning stubble. The case has been registered against the Sarpanch Kamaljit Singh, son of Balveer Singh, a resident of Patti Dhuni village, who has been found guilty.
The Sarpanch of Jandiala Manjki village is the accused in the stubble burning case. The accused had set fire to the stubble from the paddy crop. When the police came to know about this, the police immediately registered a case in the matter. SHO Suresh Kumar of Thana Sadar has confirmed the registration of the case.
The case is being investigated by Jasvir Chand, in-charge of Jandiala outpost of Thana Sadar. At present, the arrest of Kamaljit Singh, who has been made the accused, is pending. The police have registered this case on the statements of the investigating officer. The police had received information that a farmer in the said village had set fire to his stubble. Due to this the visibility in the surrounding villages has reduced.
When the police party immediately reached the spot, the accused had fled from there leaving his tractor. After this, the police have registered a case against Sarpanch Kamaljit Singh and his family members. Sarpanch Kalamjit said that the case has been registered under political pressure. He also denied setting fire in the field.
