Karnal: Police action has begun against the agents who send Haryana youths to America via Dunki route. Police have registered an FIR against 3 agents on the complaint of Akash and Sumit of Karnal.
Fraud and Immigration Act have been imposed on them. Akash and Sumit are among the 33 people from Haryana who were forcibly sent from America to Amritsar Airport on 5 February in a US Air Force plane with their hands and feet tied in chains.
During investigation, the police found out that the agents had duped these 33 people of about Rs. 15 crores. They were even lured with the promise of jobs in America. However, almost all of them were arrested as soon as they crossed the wall from the Mexican border and reached America.

Shubham of Karnal’s Kalaram village said that his younger brother Akash had gone to Delhi for a trip, where he met a young man named Sandeep. Sandeep gave him the number of an agent, who introduced himself as Rocky from Jalandhar. The agent demanded Rs 42.50 lakh to send Akash to America.
Shubham told that he paid this amount in four installments. The first installment of 7.50 lakhs was given near Bastara toll tax, the second installment of 10 lakhs was given under Kutel bridge, the third installment of 20 lakhs was given near Bastara bridge and the fourth installment of 5 lakhs was given at the village bus stand. As soon as Akash reached America on the night of January 25, the police arrested him and put him in a camp on January 26. He was sent to India on February 5.
Shubham lodged a complaint against agent Rocky and his partner at Madhuban police station. After which a case has been registered under section 406, 420 of IPC and section 24 of Immigration Act. Investigating officer of Madhuban police station Lachman Singh said that the agent will be arrested soon.
The agent had sent Akash to America in 7 months
Akash told that he reached Delhi on 20 June 2024. He was kept here for a month. Then he was sent to Mumbai, where he was kept for 2 months. From Mumbai he went to Brazil by flight, where he had to stay for a month. After this he reached Bolivia. This was a very expensive country, so he was kept here for only 5-6 days.
Then he went to Guatemala, where he spent a month. After that he had to pass through the jungles of Panama, which took 7 days. After Panama, he reached Honduras, where he stayed for 15 days. Then he had to stay in South America for 10 days. Finally he reached Mexico, where he was stopped for about 35 days. Finally, at 12 o’clock in the night of 25 January 2025, he crossed the US border. Where he was arrested the same day and kept in a detention center.
Akash said that he was forcibly sent back like prisoners
He was in an American detention center. From there, he was suddenly stuffed in two buses with other people. He thought that he would be taken to the Welcome Office and left there but he was taken to the American airbase.
There we were taken off the bus and made to stand in a line. He said, “Our entire face was covered with a mask. After this, shackles were put on our hands, legs and neck. We were being treated as if we were big criminals. We were made to sit in shackles inside the plane. If anyone had to go to for washroom, they had to raise their hands first. After this, soldiers would come and take them to the washroom.”
