A sudden fire broke out in the Haryana Secretariat located in Sector-17 of Chandigarh today. The incident is being reported around 4 pm. As soon as the fire broke out in the building, there was a stampede among the people present outside.
On seeing smoke coming out of the building, people informed the fire department about it. After this, fire brigade vehicles reached the spot in a short while, and after about an hour of effort, the fire was controlled.
5 fire engines reached to extinguish the fire
Eyewitnesses have told that today at around 4:10 pm, smoke was seen coming out of the new secretariat building (Sector-17) of Haryana. Smoke was coming out from the third floor of the building. People informed the concerned police station about this. After this, the message was sent to the fire department.
Only one vehicle had reached the spot to extinguish the fire. After this four more vehicles were called to the spot. Fire officials say that the cause of the fire has not been ascertained.
Officers were not present due to Sunday holiday
Today, due to Sunday holiday, there was no employee or officer in the office, due to which a major accident was averted. This building has major offices like Labor Commissioner, Election Commission, Industries Department. Apart from this, some offices of Chandigarh Administration are also run in this building.
