Fire engulfs 3-storey furniture showroon in Amritsar; Fire brigade called from Gurdaspur, Batala

Amritsar: A massive fire broke out in Bharat Furniture House located on Court Road in Amritsar this morning, causing losses worth crores. Municipal Corporation Fire Brigade Department ADFO Dilbag Singh said that due to the presence of furniture, the fire spread rapidly and engulfed the entire three-storey building. A total of 50 fire engines including Amritsar.

Municipal Corporation Fire Brigade Department ADFO Dilbag Singh said that due to the presence of furniture, the fire spread rapidly and engulfed the entire three-storey building.

A total of 50 fire engines including Amritsar Municipal Corporation, Gurdaspur, Batala, Tarn Taran, Jandiala, Seva Samiti and Khanna Paper Mill reached the spot to control the fire. The firefighters succeeded in extinguishing the fire after about two hours of hard work.

Furniture house burnt to ashes, neighbouring showroom also affected

All the goods kept in the three-storey furniture house were burnt to ashes. The fire spread to another nearby showroom, causing heavy damage there too. However, the fire brigade vehicles reached on time and the fire could not spread to the entire market, thus a major accident was averted.

The cause of the fire has not been ascertained yet and the administration is investigating the matter.
