Firing during Football tournament in Amritsar; Minor killed, soldier severely injured

Amritsar: Unknown bike-borne assailants opened fire during the prize distribution ceremony of a football tournament being held in Khabbe Rajputan village of Amritsar on Saturday night. A minor was killed, while a soldier on leave was seriously injured.

The deceased child has been identified as 14-year-old Gursevak Singh of village Nangli. According to the information received, when this incident happened, prizes were being distributed to the winning teams. Suddenly firing started, which created panic in the entire function.

During the attack, Army jawan Gurpreet Singh Jana (25) son of Paramjit Singh, who was playing the role of goalkeeper, was seriously injured by a bullet. He was serving in the Indian Army and had come home on leave. The second bullet hit Gursevak. Doctors declared him dead in the hospital.

Jag Gursevak Singh was shot but was still breathing. He studied in a nearby government school and was the only brother of his three sisters. According to eyewitnesses, Gursevak had gone to watch a football match with other children and villagers.

One of the bullets suddenly hit his stomach, leaving him seriously injured. His family and locals immediately rushed him to the hospital, but due to his serious injuries, the doctors declared him dead.

The entire village is mourning the death of innocent Gursevak Singh due to gunshot wounds. His parents and sisters are crying inconsolably. People say that Gursevak was good in studies and was the support of the family.

Police is investigating, the attacker is absconding

After this shootout, an atmosphere of terror has spread in the entire area. The attackers fled on a bike after carrying out the incident. The police has reached the spot and started investigation and is conducting raids in search of the accused.

According to the administration, CCTV footage is being examined to identify the attackers and the culprits will be arrested soon.
