Under construction building collapses in Amritsar: Emergency response underway

Five new cars were damaged and one vehicle was destroyed in an accident in front of the DTO office. 

Amritsar: Five vehicles parked near a wall collapsed in Amritsar’s Gwal Mandi area. One vehicle has been lost. Police officials who reached the spot are investigating the matter. It is also being investigated whether the building was legal or illegal construction was being done.

Talking to the media, the car owners said that they had parked their vehicles here and had gone to get some work done in the DTO office in front, but later it was found that the wall had collapsed, due to which the vehicle suffered a lot of damage. They said that they did not know whose building it was and how the wall collapsed, but their entire vehicle had been damaged. Corporation officials also reached the spot; they said that they had come to know that the wall had fallen on the vehicles and five vehicles had been damaged due to the collapse. An investigation is being done on the spot by the officials.

Gopal Singh, the owner of the lost vehicle, said that he had come to the DTO office and had parked his vehicle. Then there was a noise that the wall had collapsed, after which he came back and saw that his vehicle was completely damaged.

According to the people living nearby, the building whose wall had collapsed was completely kutcha, and behind it, an illegal building was being constructed by the building owner. Debris was being thrown along the wall, due to which the high wall fell on the vehicles parked outside. Police officer Ravi Prakash, who reached the spot from Cantonment police station, said that he had received a complaint from 100 number, after which he came for investigation, and the investigation is going on.
