Former ADGP of Punjab Appointed as Chairman of Ex-Serviceman Cell by Punjab Congress

Former ADGP of Punjab, Gurinder Singh Dhillon, who recently joined the Congress party after taking voluntary retirement from his job, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Ex-serviceman Cell by the party.

Chandigarh : Former ADGP of Punjab, Gurinder Singh Dhillon, who recently joined the Congress party after taking voluntary retirement from his job, has been appointed as the Chairman of the Ex-serviceman Cell by the party. Although the party hasn’t fielded him in the electoral arena yet, he has been entrusted with this new responsibility.

Expressing gratitude towards the party’s leadership including Devender Yadav, Raja Warring, and Secretary Captain Sandeep Sandhu, Dhillon thanked them for the appointment. He stated that he is thankful to the party for this new responsibility.

Gurinder Dhillon, in a tweet, thanked Devender Yadav, Raja Warring, Captain Sandeep Sandhu, and the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC) for assigning him this significant role. He also expressed gratitude to Rahul Gandhi, Mallikarjun Kharge, and K.C. Venugopal. Dhillon assured that he would meet the party’s expectations and work diligently.

Close relations with Rahul Gandhi

He stated that he will fulfill the duties assigned to him by the party with integrity and dedication. Dhillon is considered close to senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. During Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, Dhillon was responsible for his security in Punjab.

There was speculations of contesting from Firozpur

Previously, there were discussions about him contesting elections from Firozpur, but those discussions were put on hold after Sher Singh Ghubaya was nominated as the candidate by the party.

However, Dhillon resides in Gurdaspur but right He is living in Patiala, and his wife is a doctor. It is anticipated that the party might field him in the 2027 Assembly elections. He is known for his agility and tech-savviness.

He took voluntary retirement in April, stating that he had completed 30 years of service and is now 58 years old, thus exercising his right to retire.
