Former Punjab ADGP Gurinder Singh Dhillon joins Congress, opted VRS last week

After 34 years of Service as high rank police official, Gurinder Singh Dhillon opted for VRS.

New Delhi: Former Punjab ADGP Gurinder Singh Dhillon, who opted for Voluntary Retirement last week joined Congress today. He joined the Congress party in the presence of Punjab Congress in-charge Devendra Yadav.

After 34 years of Service as high rank police official, Gurinder Singh Dhillon opted for VRS. Dhillon, a 1997-batch IPS officer, was serving as the additional director general of police (law and order) in Punjab Police when he quit the service last week.

Devendra Yadav welcomed ADGP Gurinder Singh Dhillon in Congress.

On the joining of IPS Gurinder Singh Dhillon in Congress, In-charge Devendra Yadav said that Congress party will be strengthened with the joining of former Punjab ADGP Gurinder Singh Dhillon in the party.

Yadav added that the party will also give responsibility to Dhillon Saheb and will also use him in Punjab Politics. He clarified that contesting elections is not a priority at this time.

Devendra Yadav said that Gurinder Singh Dhillon has joined congress after getting inspired by Rahul Gandhi.

Gurinder Singh Dhillon Third official to opt for VRS

After the implementation of Model Code of Conduct, Gurinder Singh Dhillon has become third official who opted for voluntary resignation. Earlier on April 10, IAS Officer of 2015 Batch Karnail Singh resigned. It was reported that he was not given a new posting following which he resigned.

Later Former IAS Parmpal Kaur Maluka, daughter-in-law of SAD Leader also tendered her resignation. Later she joined Bhartiya Janta Party along with her husband. Post her joining, BJP fielded Parmpal from Bathinda Lok Sabha seat. A 2011-batch IAS officer, Parampal Kaur was posted as managing director of the Punjab State Industrial Corporation, and was to retire in October this year.

Last week on April 24, Gurinder Dhillon opted for a Voluntary resignation. At that time on his VRS, he said “I have taken VRS from my Police service. I am feeling uncaged. let’s see where wind of destiny pollinates me”.

Perform Duties in Dedicated Manner: Dhillon

On Joining Congress Dhillon said, “I have served my state, Punjab, for about two decades as a police officer and today I am here with the blessings of Rahul Gandhi.” While thanking Congress President and top leaders, he added that he will perform all duties towards the party in a dedicated manner.
