Amritsar: Former Punjab CM and Congress leader, Charanjit Singh Channi offered prayers at the Sri Harmandir Sahib (Golden Temple) in Amritsar today morning. He paid obeisance at the Golden Temple, the day after he was announced candidate from Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat, Punjab.
Channi along with other party leaders reached Golden Temple early in the morning. While interacting with the media, Channi thanked the Congress party for entrusting him and giving the opportunity to contest from the Jalandhar seat. Ever since the announcement of the elections, Channi was seen regularly holding meetings with party workers and thus was a strong contender for the seat.
Channi today said, “The Congress party has given me the opportunity to serve from Jalandhar… I will go to Jalandhar as a servant.” Creating an analogy between Lord Krishna and People of Jalandhar, he said, “I will go there as ‘Sudama’ and I request the people of Jalandhar to look after me as Lord Krishna… I prayed to have the strength to fulfil the expectations of the people..”
