Fresh twist in Majithia case: SIT files for search warrant; Court to hear arguments today

Chandigarh: The SIT probing the drug smuggling case of Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former minister Bikram Singh Majithia in Punjab has reached Mohali court. The SIT has filed a petition in the court demanding a search warrant for his house. Majithia’s lawyers have filed a petition demanding a copy of the application filed.

The SIT has filed a petition in the court demanding a search warrant for his house. Majithia’s lawyers have filed a petition demanding a copy of the application filed by the SIT.

Majithia’s lawyers have also sought information from the court about the place to be searched. However, the lawyers representing the government have called this application wrong. The matter will be argued today on April 5. The case against Majithia is registered in the State Crime Branch.

However, Bikramjit Singh Majithia had already released a video saying that the government is preparing to register a new case against him. In such a situation, a search warrant will be taken to investigate his houses. The whole preparation is to trap him before the elections to be held in 2027.

The Congress government had registered the case in 2022

This case was registered in the year 2022 during the Congress government. At that time the SIT said that six to 10 FIRs have been registered in the drugs case. The court has given its verdict in those FIRs.

It is not possible to include Majithia’s name after the decision. After this, a case was registered in the year 2022 during the Congress government. After this he also went to jail.

Punjab government has formed 5th SIT

The head of the SIT investigating the drug smuggling case related to Bikram Majithia was changed a few days ago. Now, AIG Varun Sharma has been made the head. Earlier, DIG HS Bhullar was the SIT head. Apart from this, 2 more officers have been changed.

Apart from this, Tarn Taran SSP Abhimanyu Rana and SP (NRI), Patiala, Gurbans Singh Bains have been made members of the SIT. This is the 5th time that changes have been made in the SIT. Earlier, the SIT was always headed by an officer of the rank of DIG or higher. This is the first time that the command of the SIT has been handed over to an AIG rank officer.
