Now read what is the history of Shri Guru Arjun Dev Ji Maharaj
Guru Arjun Dev Ji, the fifth Guru of the Sikhs, was born on April 15, 1563, at his maternal home in Goindwal Sahib. He was the son of the fourth Guru, Guru Ram Das Ji, and Bibi Bhani Ji.
Guru Arjun Dev Ji attained martyrdom on May 30, 1606, in Lahore (now in Pakistan). He endured brutal torture — forced to sit on a burning hot plate under the scorching sun while hot sand was poured over him. He was also made to sit in a boiling cauldron. Despite extreme suffering and repeated demands to renounce his faith, Guru Sahib remained steadfast and did not abandon his Sikh identity.
