The Government of India has approved two important development projects in Punjab aimed at honouring the sacrifices of martyrs at Khatkar Kalan and Hussainiwala. Union Minister of State for Railways & Food Processing Industries Ravneet Singh expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and thanked Tourism Minister Shri Gajendra Shekhawat ji for his support.
Giving a brief about the projects, Ravneet Singh said that the two projects namely, “Cultural and Heritage Trail, a symbol of peace and harmony at Hussainiwala border” and “Heritage Road as a tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh at Khatkar Kalan, SBS Nagar”, have been designed as a fitting tribute to the martyrs.
Ministry of Culture & Tourism, Government of India, has recognized Ferozepur (Hussainiwala Border) as a flagship site for development under the Culture & Heritage category. After collaboration with the State Government, the Central Sanctioning & Monitoring Committee has approved the project “Cultural & Heritage Stretch, Symbol of Peace & Harmony at Hussainiwala Border” with an investment of ₹24.99 crore.
The initiative aims to preserve the historical and cultural heritage of the area while commemorating the sacrifices of freedom fighters like Shaheed Bhagat Singh, Shaheed Rajguru and Shaheed Sukhdev.
Ravneet Singh elaborated on the second project under which a “Heritage Street” will be developed at Khatkar Kalan, SBS Nagar, as a tribute to Shaheed-e-Azam Sardar Bhagat Singh.
As part of the Government of India’s initiative to develop globally iconic tourist centres, the Ministry of Culture & Tourism has sanctioned a budget of Rs. 53.45 crore for the project.
