Preparations for the wheat procurement season have intensified in Khanna of the Ludhiana district of Punjab. SDM held a meeting with procurement agencies and commission agents in Asia’s largest grain market Khanna. The season will start from April 1. SDM Dr. Baljinder Singh Dhillon has paid special attention to farmer facilities. Proper seating arrangements will be made for farmers in the market. Clean drinking water and toilet facilities will be available. Special attention will be paid to cleanliness in the market.
Commission agents will have to arrange tarpaulin
At the same time, commission agents will have to arrange tarpaulin to protect the crop from rain. Procurement agencies will arrange for gunny bags in advance. Strict instructions have been given to transport contractors to ensure that there is no delay in lifting of wheat. Apart from Khanna Main Mandi, wheat will also be procured in Rahon Part A-B, Dahedu, Raipur Rajputan, Isadu and Roni. Last year, 10 lakh 43 thousand 944 quintals of wheat were procured. This time the arrival is expected to increase.
Commission issue raised before the government
Arhatiya Association President Harbans Singh Rosha expressed his gratitude to Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann. He said that Mann is the first Chief Minister who raised the issue of commission of arhatiyas before the central government. Two days ago, he met Union Minister Prahlad Joshi and raised this issue. Arhatiyas have assured full cooperation to the Punjab government.
