Renowned Punjabi cinema actor Guggu gill visited the Golden Temple in Amritsar today, offering prayers and seeking blessings ahead of the release of his upcoming film "Shonki Sardar", set to hit theatres on May 16.

With folded hands, the veteran actor bowed before the Guru, expressing gratitude to Waheguru and praying for the success of the film and the well-being of all. Speaking to the media, Gill shared that visiting the holy shrine had been a long-cherished wish, and he felt spiritually energised to begin promoting his new project.

Gill revealed that “Shonki Sardar” will feature two major names from the Punjabi music industry -Babbu Mann and Guru Randhawa. Sharing his excitement, he said he is hopeful the audience will embrace the film with love and support.

I want to give a message to society through cinema

Guggu Gill said that he always prefers such characters that give a positive message to society. Recalling his films ‘Sikander’, ‘Badla Jatti Da’, ‘Jatt Te Zameen’, he said that these were very special for him because he played challenging and influential roles in them.

Guggu Gill also said that if he gets a chance in the future, he would like to do a film on the great warrior of Sikh history, Hari Singh Nalwa, and it would be a matter of pride for him to play his character. He said that the stories of Sikh history can play an important role in inspiring the coming generations.

Message to save youth from drugs

Expressing concern over the drug addiction spreading in Punjab, the actor said that today, drug addiction has penetrated every vein of the youth, which is very sad. He appealed to the parents to motivate their children towards sports and creative activities so that they stay away from drug addiction and can make a positive contribution in building the society.

Guggu Gill said that governments or social welfare organizations alone cannot create a drug-free society unless the common people themselves become aware. He stressed that public awareness is the only way to get rid of drug addiction.
