Gurnam Singh Chaduni’s SSP to contest upcoming Punjab and Haryana elections

Chandigarh: Farmer leader and prominent face of the 2020 farmers’ movement Gurnam Singh Chaduni has announced to contest the Haryana Assembly and Punjab by-elections. Gurnam Chaduni made this announcement last evening. These elections will be fought under the banner of the Sanyukt Sangharsh Party (SSP). After the defeat in 2022, farmers will once again enter.

Gurnam Chaduni made this announcement last evening. These elections will be fought under the banner of the Sanyukt Sangharsh Party (SSP). After the defeat in 2022, farmers will once again enter the electoral fray.

According to the information received, farmer leader Gurnam Singh Choorni has announced that his party Sanyukt Sangharsh Party will contest from four assembly seats in Punjab, which have fallen vacant after the Lok Sabha elections. They will field their farmer leaders in Gidderbaha, Barnala, Dera Baba Nanak and Chabbewal. Not only this, they will also contest the Haryana elections to be held this year.

Chaduni has also talked about contesting the elections himself during this time. He says that he will contest from Pehwa. Rest announcements of the names will be made later after discussion with party members.

This is not the first time that farmer leaders have come out in the electoral battlefield. After the end of the 2020 Kisan Andolan-1, farmer leaders also came there to contest the elections during the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections. There was also a split among the farmer leaders over the decision to contest the elections. The farmer leaders who contested the elections had to bear the brunt of this. The farmer leaders’ deposits were forfeited.
