Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan, Prahlad Joshi and Piyush Goyal had arrived in the meeting, while on behalf of the Punjab government, 3 ministers including Finance Minister Harpal Singh Cheema attended the meeting.

In the meeting, the farmer organizations remained adamant on the demand for a law guaranteeing Minimum Support Price (MSP). Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan said that some issues may arise from the list given by the farmers. They want to discuss this with all the ministries related to agriculture, which may take time. No solution was found in the 4-hour meeting.

As soon as the farmers started going back, the police detained them as soon as they entered Punjab from Chandigarh. Jagjit Singh Dallewal was detained in the ambulance near Sangrur. There was a scuffle between the farmers and the police here.
