Heat wave to continue in night, J&K scorching due to terrible heat; IMD issued red alert

According to the report of Jal Shakti Department, 478 drinking water schemes are affected in the state. The department has cancelled the vacations of the field staff during the summer. If there is shortage of water, it will be supplied through tankers. There are heat wave like conditions in most areas of the state.

The weather will remain dry till May 28

In Shimla and many surrounding areas, there was relief from the heat with light rain on the third day as well. Even in Jammu and Kashmir, hilly and plain areas are scorching with terrible heat. Jammu division recorded a maximum temperature above 41 degree Celsius on Wednesday. The temperature is above 30 degrees in many districts of Kashmir. The Meteorological Department has predicted dry weather till May 28.

Heavy rain in some areas

The District Magistrate of Jammu has appealed to the citizens to avoid stepping out of their houses in view of the rising temperature. Afternoon showers in the hilly districts of Uttarakhand brought some relief from the heat in the plains. Some areas of Pauri, Uttarkashi, Bageshwar, Almora Pithoragarh, Champawat, Nainital and Dehradun received heavy rain.

Heat will continue at night, red alert issued

Punjab is experiencing extreme heat due to the heat wave that has been going on for the past one week. Now the heat will continue even at night. According to the Meteorological Department, the night temperature was six degrees Celsius above normal in six districts.

Chandigarh and Mohali recorded a night temperature of 31 degrees Celsius. Bathinda remained the hottest during the day for the fourth consecutive day. The maximum temperature was recorded at 46.6 degrees Celsius which was six degrees Celsius above normal.

The temperature has crossed 47 degrees Celsius

The Meteorological Department, Chandigarh has issued a heat wave warning during the day as well as at night. This means that the night will be warmer than usual. The night temperature is likely to touch 32 to 33 degrees Celsius.

The day temperature is likely to exceed 47 degree Celsius in many districts. On the other hand, according to agricultural experts, if the night temperature remains higher than normal, it will prove to be very harmful for the crops.
