Chandigarh: Important news for those who travel with children on two-wheelers. Now in Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh, it will be mandatory for children above 4 years of age to wear helmets while riding two-wheelers. This helmet should also be as per the standards set by the central government.
The bench of Punjab and Haryana High Court Chief Justice Sheel Nagu and Anil Kshetrapal issued an order in this regard on October 29. These orders have now come out.
Let us tell you that the High Court has given exemption only to Sikh men and women wearing turban. In this case, the High Court has also summoned the details of the challans of the women riding two-wheelers without helmets and the pillion rider from the Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh police. The next hearing of the case will be held on December 4.
The High Court in its order said that these orders will apply to children above 4 years of age, who are sitting behind a two-wheeler. This order will apply to all types of bikes, regardless of category. If a Sikh person wears a turban while riding or sitting on a bike, this order will not apply to him.
