Inspector A.K. Sohi, who reached the spot, said that the mother of the driver driving the car and the person crossing the road had died. Jaswant Singh, who runs a sweet shop in Verka and crossed the road, has died.

An eyewitness to the incident, Ranjeet Singh, a resident of Bhikhiwind, told me that the car driver was coming from Amritsar. Then the deceased, walking on foot, came in front of the car.

The bodies are being sent to the mortuary. No information can be given right now about whose fault it was. The police can say something about this only after an investigation.
