Shimla: The Himachal Pradesh government is considering a significant decision following the recent attacks on HRTC buses in Punjab. Deputy Chief Minister Mukesh Agnihotri made a statement on Saturday, expressing concern over the continuous vandalism of HRTC buses in Punjab. He said that the state government would engage in talks with the Punjab Government to ensure the safety of the buses.
Agnihotri emphasized that HRTC buses would only continue operations in Punjab if the Punjab government guarantees their safety. If such assurance is not provided, the services will be suspended. The Deputy CM assured that the Himachal Pradesh Government is in constant communication with Punjab officials and remains committed to the safety of bus employees. passengers and the general public.
The issue has already been discussed with Punjab’s Director General of Police and Agnihotri stated that the Chief Minister of Himachal Pradesh has also brought up the matter with Punjab’s Chief Minister. He further noted that the state would raise the issue with the central government if necessary. The safety of passengers and bus employees remains a top priority for the Himachal government.
This comes after 4 HRTC buses were vandalized in Amritsar, Punjab, where their glass window were broken and pro-Khalistan slogans were sprayed on buses. Similar incidents of vandalism had earlier occurred in Kharar and Hoshiarpur.
