Amritsar: Giving information, Deputy Commissioner Tarn Taran Rahul said that given the situation arising during the Indo-Pak tension, a holiday has been declared from May 8 to 11 in all government, aided, private schools and other educational institutions of the district. He said that after reviewing the situation on Monday, instructions regarding the opening of schools will be issued on Sunday. He said that during this time the staff will be present as usual.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the district administration of Tarn Taran is ready to deal with any kind of emergency. He said that there is no shortage of essential items in the district, including oil, cooking gas, medicines and rations etc. He appealed to the residents of the district that people should not encourage black marketing by hoarding these items without thinking.

The Deputy Commissioner warned those who hoard essential items and engage in black marketing that strictest action will be taken against anyone found doing so.

He cautioned the district residents and asked them not to act on the rumors being spread through social media and unnecessary advice being given. He said that every information, news or advice should be acted upon only after verifying it and only then should it be shared further. He said that an atmosphere of panic should not be created among the common people by sharing such news or advice without thinking.
