Former MLA from Punjab’s assembly constituency Dhuri, Dalvir Singh Goldy, has once again returned to his old party, Congress. This “ghar wapsi” took place on Saturday in Delhi in the presence of Punjab Congress in-charge Bhupesh Baghel and state president Amarinder Singh Raja Warring. All were present at the residence of Leader of Opposition Pratap Singh Bajwa.
As soon as he joined the Congress, Goldie expressed faith and loyalty to the party leadership and said that he is fully dedicated to the ideology of the Congress and the development of Punjab. Dalveer Singh Goldie’s return has come at a time when the Punjab Congress is engaged in strategic preparations for the upcoming by-elections. In such a situation, his return is being considered not only politically important but also symbolically a strong step for the Congress.
Dalvir Singh Goldy left the Congress and joined the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) before the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections. At that time, he took this decision due to dissatisfaction over ticket distribution in the Congress. However, even after joining AAP, he did not get the expected political space. He was feeling uncomfortable due to neglect within the party, differences with the local leadership, and neglect of supporters.
According to political sources, due to not getting an active political role in the Aam Aadmi Party, he decided to return to the Congress again. The Congress leadership also inducted him again, considering his experience and hold in the area.
