Ambala: In Ambala, the police has arrested 2 smugglers who were taking cows from Punjab for slaughter. Both the smugglers had stuffed 10 cows in the canter.
After the canter was caught by the members of Gau Raksha Dal of Haryana and Punjab, the police also arrested both the accused and freed all the cows. The police have registered a case against the accused and started further action.
Jatindra Goswami, a resident of Ranjit Nagar, Ambala Cantt, said that he is the general secretary of Gau Raksha Dal Haryana. On Monday morning, he received information that a canter (KA40B4638) carrying cows from Punjab was being taken for cow slaughter. Based on the information, he reached Saddopur border. Here he met his friend Manoj Sharma. He called on Dial-112 and informed the police about it.
According to the complainant, after some time a canter was seen coming. Based on the information, he signaled to stop the canter. But the smugglers tried to run away. He chased the canter and caught it after a lot of hard work. On investigation, the canter was completely closed with a tarpaulin. When the tarpaulin was opened, 10 cows were stuffed in the canter with their mouths tied.
The smugglers were taking the cows towards Uttar Pradesh for cow slaughter. During interrogation, the canter driver identified himself as Sadiq Pasha, a resident of Bengaluru and the other identified himself as Majnat Ajary, a resident of village Shidalgaha, district Sivalapur. After receiving the information, the police reached the spot, arrested both the accused and freed the cows. The police of Baldev Nagar police station have registered a case against the accused under sections 10(2) of the Haryana Cow Protection Act and 11 of the Animal Cruelty Act and have started further investigation.
