Mohali: In Mohali, Punjab three accused carried out a taxi robbery at gunpoint. The main accused is a soldier as Agniveer. He carried out this entire incident along with his brother and a partner. Police have arrested all three accused in this case. The arrested accused has been identified as Ishmeet Singh, who was recruited as Agniveer in 2022. The second accused Prabhpreet Singh is Ishmeet Singh’s brother, while one is his friend Balkar Singh. All three are residents of Fazilka, Punjab.
In the case, Mohali SSP Sandeep Garg said that the main accused, Ishmeet Singh, came on leave 2 months ago. After this, he did not return. He was posted in West Bengal. While coming from there, he bought illegal weapons from Kanpur in Uttar Pradesh on the way. He used to commit robbery incidents with those illegal weapons. Police have recovered a Desire taxi, an Activa, a Bullet motorcycle, a country-made pistol, and a phone from their possession. These three have been living on rent in the Bilongi area of Mohali district for the last 2 months.
The three accused used to come from Fazilka only to commit theft. They used to reach Mohali in the evening by bus or train from Fazilka and stay in their room. Late at night, they used to commit the crime and then go back to Fazilka with the same vehicle. The Active and Bullet motorcycles recovered from them were also stolen. They used to sell these vehicles further by putting fake numbers. The main accused, Ishmeet Singh, had become so clever after taking army training that he used to tamper with the papers as well. They used to make fake documents of stolen vehicles and sell them.
According to the information, the CIA staff of Mohali Police had received information on July 23 that some miscreants were roaming in the Sadar Kurali police station area. They can commit any crime. On this, the CIA staff of Mohali police set up a blockade and caught the three. When they were questioned, they said that they were the ones who had robbed the Desire taxi car in Chappadchiri of Mohali on the nights of 20 and 21 July. A case has already been registered in Mohali for this.
