Inmates attack fellow prisoner in Ludhiana Central Jail, injured

The injured undertrial prisoner's name is Hardeep Singh who is a resident of Guru Arjun Dev Nagar

There was a ruckus in Ludhiana’s Central Jail last night. The prisoners in the jail brutally beat up an undertrial prisoner. The inmates hit him on the head with a rod and glass.

The jail staff took the blood-soaked undertrial prisoner to the Civil Hospital where the doctors put 8 stitches on his head. The injured undertrial prisoner’s name is Hardeep Singh who is a resident of Guru Arjun Dev Nagar. Police of Thana Division Number 7 is investigating the matter.

According to the information, 8 to 10 inmates attacked undertrial Hardeep in Central Jail located on Tajpur Road. Injured Hardeep Singh said that he lives near Guru Arjun Dev Nagar near Samrala Chowk.

Police of Thana Division 7 had caught him 2 years ago on the charge of forming a gang with the intention of robbery. Due to this he has been in jail for 2 years. He was present in his barrack at night when 8 to 10 prisoners surrounded him and attacked him with steel glasses and rods.

During the attack, he suffered a severe head injury. The jail administration took him to the civil hospital at night. From there he was sent back to jail after medical examination. Incidents of violence in jail are raising serious questions about jail security.
