International Day against Drug abuse: BSF working to end drug menace;116 drones and 130 kg Heroin seized in last 6 months

The efforts made by BSF troops are evident from various anti-drug operations on the International Border in Punjab.

Amritsar: June 26 every year is celebrated as International Day against Drug Abuse. A day that advocates action to make a world free of drugs. Border Security Force troops in Punjab are continuously taking action to end the menace of drugs in Punjab.

BSF Punjab, which is working on a war footing against drug menace, reiterates its commitment to fighting against drugs until they are fully eradicated. The efforts made by BSF troops are evident from various anti-drug operations on the International Border in Punjab.

BSF keeps intercepting the movement of illegal drone from Pakistan which further helps to track the consignment of drugs in the state.

As per the information by BSF, troops have 𝐬𝐮𝐜𝐜𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐟𝐮𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝟏𝟏𝟔 𝐝𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐞𝐬, 𝟏𝟑𝟎 𝐤𝐠 𝐨𝐟 𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐨𝐢𝐧, 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝟏𝟓 𝐰𝐞𝐚𝐩𝐨𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒 (𝐚𝐬 𝐨𝐟 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟓).

On the International day against Drug Abuse, BSF appealed people to avoid falling in the lure of drugs which can later ruin the life completely. BSF in a post said that cutting the supply from the border is just one step in the direction; other efforts include say no to drugs, assisting law enforcement agencies, and supporting those trapped in this menace. BSF appealed to all citizens to avoid falling into the trap of drugs and ruining their lives.

The International Day against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, or World Drug Day, is marked on 26 June every year to strengthen action and cooperation in achieving a world free of drug abuse. This year’s World Drug Day campaign recognizes that effective drug policies must be rooted in science, research, full respect for human rights, compassion, and a deep understanding of the social, economic, and health implications of drug use.
