Jalandhar: In a major breakthrough, acting swiftly in an intelligence-based operation, the Counter Intelligence team in Jalandhar busted an inter-state weapon smuggling racket.
CI team with the arrest of 2 smugglers also recovered 6 illegal pistols and 7 magazines. The information about the action was shared by Punjab DGP Gaurav Yadav on his X handle.
The post further added that preliminary investigations revealed that the racket was working in a well-oiled manner and had procured 4 large weapon consignments in last 6 months. So far police have arrested 2 smugglers and two important module members who have been identified are yet to be arrested. They have been nominated for supplying weapons to gangsters.
FIR under Arms Act has been registered at #SSOC Amritsar and Investigations ongoing to establish backward & forward linkages.
Punjab Police will take stern action against all involved in organised crime & illegal weapon smuggling networks.
