Additional Sessions Judge Jaswinder Singh has cancelled the regular bail of AAP MLA Raman Arora and Municipal Corporation woman inspector Harpreet Kaur, arrested in a corruption case. Not only this, the anticipatory bail of the absconding MLA’s aide Raj Kumar alias Raju Madan has also been cancelled.
The MLA and his aide can approach the High Court for bail. Public prosecutor Rishi Bhardwaj (Deputy District Attorney Vigilance) argued that the investigation is still ongoing. If the MLA gets bail in the middle of the investigation, he can destroy evidence and put pressure on witnesses to influence the investigation. He said that the MLA’s aide, Raju Madan needs to be questioned in custodial interrogation.
The public prosecutor argued that the annual turnover of Madan cards of MLA Kuram Raju Madan was Rs 2.62 crore in 2021-22, but as soon as Arora became an MLA, it increased to Rs 5.87 crore in 2022-23. Similarly, the turnover crossed Rs 8.96 crore in 2023-24 and Rs 10.15 crore in 2024-25.
A similar big change came in Jagdamba Fashion of MLA Sadhu Rajan Kapoor. The turnover of his business was only Rs 39 lakh in 2021-22, but it reached Rs 10 crore in 2022-23 and around Rs 12 crore in 2023-24.
The public prosecutor argued that Arora allegedly circulated his black money through both his relatives. The public prosecutor said that on March 22, 2024, Raju Madan’s son, Gaurav Madan, had transferred Rs 19 lakh from his account to the account of his brother-in-law Rajan Arora’s (absconder in this case) firm DP Sons.
The public prosecutor said that records of money coming from other accounts were found during the investigation. The public prosecutor said that the gold ornaments found in the MLA’s house are also more than the reports given before the elections. People themselves have come forward against the MLA.
