Jalandhar, July 25: D Mart is a chain where you can get all the daily household items at very low prices. Whenever you enter the mall, the first thing you will see is the items with heavy discounts. A recent on-ground visit and visual documentation from the store reveal alarming conditions in how groceries and goods are stored, raising significant health and safety red flags.
The biggest concern is the sale of open and unpackaged rations. Many food items are kept uncovered, which is exposed to dust, insects and flies. This is posing a serious health hazard. As a large retail store, D-Mart is expected to maintain cleanliness and safety standards, but the reality seems to be the opposite.
Vehicles are getting stolen from outside D Mart
The biggest problem for people who come for shopping is parking their vehicles. Several customers have reported incidents of vehicle theft and pickpocketing in the store’s parking area. Despite this, no warning is given by the management, nor are strict security measures taken.
In addition, several customers have also raised questions about the quality of the clothes. The clothes sold in the name of “fresh collection” sometimes look stained, worn or used, which suggests that customers are being cheated.
When customers and employees were asked to comment on these issues, most of them refused to give a statement, which either shows fear or indifference.
In view of this whole situation, citizens need to think about their shopping habits. Is it right to risk their health and safety in the lure of cheap goods?
Now is the time for people to become aware and force the administration and retail stores to take strict steps, so that a clean, reliable and safe shopping environment can be ensured.
