Jalandhar: Elderly man duped of Rs 22 lakh in name of investment

Jalandhar: In Jalandhar, an elderly man was duped of ₹22 lakhs under the guise of investment. The accused called him and lured him with promises of high profits, eventually trapping him into transferring money from his accounts. The police have registered a case against the criminals from Kerala and Madhya Pradesh and have initiated an investigation.

According to the information, the elderly man, Mahinder Singh, who resides in the posh Defense Colony area of the city, filed the complaint with the Commissionerate Police. After the investigation, the case was marked to the Anti-Fraud Wing, which later registered the case at the Baradari Police Station.

The elderly man, Mahinder Singh, stated that the fraud occurred in September of last year. On September 26, he received a phone call from someone who introduced themselves as a high-ranking official. The accused lured the victim by promising huge profits from an investment.

Through their manipulation, the criminals tricked the victim and had him transfer money into their accounts. Once the fraud was discovered, the victim reported the matter to the police. The investigation revealed that the accused were from Kerala (Vivek) and Madhya Pradesh (an unknown person), and a case has been filed against them.
