FIR against 4 people including woman sarpanch in Jalandhar, accused of assaulting couple

It is alleged that the woman sarpanch, along with her other companions, beaten up a couple.

A case has been registered at Maqsudan police station against the woman sarpanch of Nangal Salempur village in Jalandhar district of Punjab, her husband and four other people. It is alleged that the woman sarpanch, along with her other companions, beaten up a couple.

Bhajan Singh and his wife Bhajan Kaur, residents of Nangal Salempur village, have been admitted to the Civil Hospital for treatment. A total of 4 people have been named in the case.

Allegations of getting them thrown out of the village, registering a false case

Bhajan Kaur, wife of victim Bhajan Singh, a resident of Nangal Salempur, said – On June 5, at around 8.30 pm, she was at home with her family and at that time the village sarpanch Bharti, her husband Manohar Lal alias Gora and her brother-in-law Dinesh Paswan and Chaman Lal alias Chummo, resident of Nangal Salempur, came to their house and started abusing them. While abusing her, they attacked her and her husband. They threatened to throw them out of the village. They also falsely accused him of theft and fled from there.

After which he informed the police. In this regard, the police party of ASI Rajinder Singh of Maksudan police station investigated the spot and recorded the statement of the injured Bhajan Kaur. After a long investigation, a case has been registered against Nangal Salempur’s woman Sarpanch Bharti, her husband Manohar Lal alias Gora, Dinesh Paswan and Chaman Lal alias Chummo under sections 115 (2), 333, 3 (5) of the IPC.

Woman Sarpanch said – case registered under political pressure

Village Nangal Salempur’s woman Sarpanch Bharti and her husband Manohar Lal alias Gora said that the case has been registered against them under political pressure.

They told that Bhajan Singh and his wife Bhajan Kaur are notorious thieves, who have committed many thefts in the village earlier. Written agreement has been made with the victim families several times by the Panchayat.
