Punjab: Jalandhar administration has taken an important step to make the ongoing ‘War against Drugs’ campaign against drugs in Punjab more effective. Deputy Commissioner Dr. Himanshu Aggarwal has appointed Punjab’s famous fitness icon Kunwar Amritbir Singh as the district youth icon.
Amritbir Singh has been given this responsibility due to his dedication towards fitness and his ability to inspire the youth. While handing over the appointment letter to Amritbir Singh, Deputy Commissioner Dr. Aggarwal said- “This decision will inspire the youth to stay away from addiction and adopt a healthy and disciplined lifestyle.
Amritbir has set new standards in fitness at the world level
Kunwar Amritbir Singh, a resident of Batala, is known as the “Push-up Man of Punjab”. He has so far made three Guinness World Records and more than 35 national-international fitness records in his name. Most of these records are related to push-ups. Appreciating his passion and discipline, the Deputy Commissioner called him a role model for the youth of Punjab.
As a district youth icon, Amritbir Singh will now inspire the youth to stay away from drugs and follow the path of fitness through his social media influence and public events. Dr. Aggarwal expressed hope that Amritbir Singh will take this campaign to new heights with his enthusiasm.
Amritbir Singh’s resolution
Thanking the Jalandhar administration and the Punjab government for this honour, Amritbir Singh said, “It is a matter of pride for me that I got the opportunity to be a part of a campaign like ‘Yuddh Nashe Ke Viruddh’. I will be fully dedicated to making the youth aware through my social media and personal participation.” He also said that his aim is to make Punjab a healthy and drug-free state and he will continue to work for this.
