Jalandhar: After many dry days, Jalandhar received a short spell of Heavy rain this morning. On one hand, the rain did manage to bring respite from the peaked levels of humidity but on the other also exposed the pathetic condition of the so-called smart city’s sewage system. A short spell of showers this morning left the roads waterlogged which posed an inconvenience to the commuters heading towards their workplace.
The waterlogging on the streets and main roads exposed the real face of the system and the Municipal Corporation which was not able to deal with the situation.
After heavy rain, the worst hit are the low-lying areas where water accumulates more than usual. It’s been more than over a month since the monsoon began but still, the municipal corporation of smart city Jalandhar is not able to make appropriate arrangements to deal with such a situation.
Today visuals from different parts of the city came which showed roads with stranded water. People head toward their workplace in such a situation which depicts that serious work is to be done to improve city’s basic infrastructure which crumbles in such a situation.
