Jalandhar-West Bypoll: AAP announces Mohinder Bhagat as candidate

Jalandhar: Ahead of the by-election in Jalandhar West assembly, Aam Aadmi Party has announced the name of its candidate. The party making official announcement declared Mohinder Bhagat as its candidate from the constituency. AAP leader Mohinder Bhagat is Halka in charge of Jalandhar West entrusted with the huge responsibility.

Who is Mohinder Bhagat?

Mohinder Bhagat left BJP and joined AAP during the 2023 Lok Sabha by-election. Mohinder’s father Chunni Lal Bhagat was a big face of Punjab BJP.

He has also been a minister in the state government. BJP fielded him in the assembly elections held in February 2022, where he suffered a crushing defeat. Mohinder Bhagat suddenly left BJP during the by-election and joined AAP.

For the West constituency seat, the names of Robin Sampla, who left BJP and joined AAP, and coordinator Steven Claire and District Planning Committee chairman Amritpal Singh were also discussed, but AAP expressed confidence in Bhagat.

Polling on July 10

The polling will be held on July 10 and results will be announced on July 13. Congress and SAD is yet to announce the names of their candidates.
