Jalandhar West Bypoll: CEO Punjab Sibin C chairs meeting with Deputy Commissioner, Police Commissioner and SSP

During the meeting held through video conferencing, Sibin C directed the officials to complete the necessary arrangements for polling so that the elections could be conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner.

Jalandhar: Punjab Chief Electoral Officer Sibin C on Friday held a meeting with Jalandhar Deputy Commissioner, Police Commissioner, and SSP regarding the by-election of the Jalandhar West Assembly Constituency.

During the meeting held through video conferencing, Sibin C directed the officials to complete the necessary arrangements for polling so that the elections could be conducted in a free, fair and peaceful manner.

The Chief Electoral Officer asked the Deputy Commissioner to make arrangements for water coolers, fans, adequate seating space, toilets and sheds at the polling stations so that the voters do not face any problem.

He asked the officials to ensure separate queues for elderly and pregnant women and the availability of ramps and wheelchairs at each polling station for physically challenged voters.

He further said that if the queue for voting is long then chairs should be arranged for sitting and medical kits should also be made available to the polling staff. Apart from this, he has ordered to ensure 100 percent live webcasting of polling stations for real time monitoring.

The Chief Electoral Officer directed the Police Commissioner and SSP to further enhance surveillance during the 48 hours before polling, tighten the checkpoints and crack down on illegal smuggling of drugs, liquor, cash and other items.

He asked the officials to strengthen security arrangements at sensitive polling stations, strong rooms and counting centers. Sibin C directed the officials to completely ban the entry of outsiders in the constituency 48 hours before polling and to resolve complaints of violation of Model Code of Conduct in a timely manner.
