Jalandhar West MLA Mohinder Bhagat takes oath as member of assembly

The government had sought time from the Governor House for this, so he was given today's time.

jalandhar: Mohinder Bhagat, who won the by-election from Jalandhar West seat of Punjab, will be made a minister by the Punjab government. Today, i.e. on Wednesday, he reached Chandigarh and took oath as MLA.

The government had sought time from the Governor House for this, so he was given today’s time. Mohinder Bhagat has been made the Sports Minister.

Gurmeet Meet Hayer resigned from the ministerial post after winning the Lok Sabha elections. After this no new minister was appointed in his place. Now Bhagat has been made the Sports Minister. Before the oath, Bhagat met CM Mann with his family.

The biggest reason behind this is that the constituency from which Bhagat has won the election is considered to be the biggest sports hub of North India. The West constituency itself has the biggest sports market and factories. In such a situation, the government wanted to make the Sports Minister from Jalandhar itself. There could not have been any strong candidate for Mohinder Bhagat for the same post.

During the Jalandhar by-election, CM Bhagwant Mann had also promised that if the people of Jalandhar West make CM Mohinder Bhagat climb one step, he will climb the second step himself. Here the purpose of CM Mann’s statement was linked to making Mohinder Bhagat a minister. Currently there is no minister from Jalandhar Urban in the AAP government. However, MLA Balkar Singh from Kartarpur seat of Jalandhar district is definitely a minister in the government.
