Jalandhar: Woman beaten with slippers, FIR registered against 5 accused

The police have so far not arrested any accused in this matter.

Jalandhar: Near Swarn Park in Jalandhar, a case has been registered against the Pradhan of a locality, his wife and his associates for misbehaving with a woman and beat her badly with slippers.

In this regard, the police of Thana Division Number-8 has recorded the statement of the victim Poonam and registered a case against Ranjeet Singh alias DC Gurjinder Singh resident of Guru Ramdas Nagar, Balli Pradhan, his wife and others. The case has been registered under IPC sections 323 (assault), 341 (obstructing the way), 354A (behaving indecently with a woman) and 34. The police have so far not arrested any accused in this matter.

At the same time, Balli, one of the accused said that he has a taxi business. Due to political rivalry, an FIR has been registered against him. He added that all the allegations against him are false.

Poonam, wife of Pappu Shah, a resident of Swarn Park, said that she works as a labourer. Last night at around 9:30 pm, she was talking to a milkman near the house of Balli Pradhan, who lives in the area. Meanwhile, Ranjeet Singh alias DC, a resident of Swarn Park, came and pulled Poonam’s dupatta. Both of them started arguing over this.

When Poonam protested, DC started slapping her. When she called Balli Pradhan for help, Balli Pradhan and his wife came out of the house and forcibly took her to their house. It is alleged that Poonam was beaten with slippers on the orders of Balli Pradhan’s wife. Poonam said – I was called to the house by Balli Pradhan and insulted.

After the incident, the family immediately admitted Poonam to the hospital. Where the doctors started her treatment. The police registered this case after investigation. Poonam had got the MLR registered from Jalandhar Civil Hospital. A copy of which was given to the police. Police again registered a case in the matter.
