Three bike riders fall into pothole on Kapurthala-Jalandhar road; 1 died, two injured

A tragic accident took place last night at a bridge construction site between Ahmedpur village and Athola in Kapurthala, Punjab. Three people riding a motorcycle suddenly fell into a deep pit dug for construction work, killing one person and seriously injuring two others. According to the information received, Hardeep Singh, a resident of Iban village, works as a carpenter. After finishing his work, he was returning to his village from Ahmedpur via Athola on a motorcycle with Sukhwinder Singh and his son Jujhar Singh.

Injured Hardeep Singh said that there was no light arrangement on the road where the construction work of the bridge was going on, nor was any barricade or warning sign installed around the pit. Due to this gross negligence, he could not see the pit in the dark and his motorcycle fell straight into it.

One died as soon as he was brought to the hospital, the other is undergoing treatment

After the accident, all three people got stuck in the pit. They were pulled out with great difficulty. Immediately with the help of 108 ambulance, all three injured were taken to Civil Hospital Kapurthala. Dr. Ashish Pal, who was on duty at Civil Hospital Kapurthala, said – Sukhwinder Singh, who was driving the motorcycle, died during treatment after being brought to the hospital.

Jujhar Singh and Hardeep Singh are undergoing treatment in the hospital and their condition is said to be stable. Injured Hardeep Singh has accused the construction agency and the concerned administration of serious negligence. He has demanded that a high-level investigation be conducted into this matter and strict action be taken against the culprits and they should be given justice.
